Today while the weather was nice I decided to take a walk through the woodland area near my house. Now this is a rather different experience for me considering I'm a "stay indoors" or "lounge by the pool" Kind of girl. However today I was feeling adventurous and I embraced the outdoors by going exploring!
This picture of what my boyfriend referred to as "the road to know where" made me feel -as cheesy as it sounds- at one with nature. Sometimes it's just so nice to leave your normal life behind, let go of all responsibilities and forget about everything. Walking down this stoney path I really felt as though I could do just this. And it was LOVELY!
Note to any future adventures- do not wear sandals! I repeat DO NOT wear sandals! I learnt my lesson the hard way- stones hurt your feet!
Sat elegantly on a wooden gate vs jumping off -and quite frankly looking like a fool who is trying to fly. But that's what it's all about isn't it? Having fun? I find that the minute the sun comes out and I have found something new and exciting to do I revert back to my childhood stages, running free without a care in a world and climbing trees, however as you grow older you reach a point in your life when you risk asses each activity before taking part- I think this may be "health and safety gone mad". Therefore on this particular trip there was unfortunately no climbing of trees, instead I took the far more timid option of climbing a small gate.
Strolling until my feet ached was by far the best part of my mini adventure. It was just nice to clear my head and have a breath of fresh air. Despite being attacked by Mosquitos every 30 seconds, the regular wiff of cows and the slalom I had to do to avoid stinging nettles, this walk really made me appreciate the little things in life. It's amazing what's right on our doorstep, what we take for granted, things we pass everyday and don't even notice. It just proves you can have an amazing day out without spending a penny!
So to anyone who is stuck indoors on a sunny day this summer, take a stroll through the woods! It really is a lovely way to relax. Go with a group or friends? Your family? Or your girlfriend/boyfriend like I did, even if you are on your own you will have a lovely day out!
Note to any boys who may be reading: take your girlfriend on a surprise adventure walking round the woods, be sure to hold her hand and take lots of pictures of her, I guarantee she'll have an amazing time and you'll come off looking like the most romantic thoughtful boyfriend ever.
Note to lone walkers: take a good book with you and find a secluded spot to have a sit down and a good read. Getting lost in a book while the sun beats down on you has to be one of the best feelings ever. At the moment I am recommending "gone girl" by Gillian Flynn and "the fault in our stars" by john green.
Until next time
Bea xx
